VALDEZ LUPE VALDEZ Age 73 of Seguin, formerly of Michigan passed away on December 4, 2008. Rosary and Mass were held on December 5 and 6, 2008 in Seguin. Private interment will be held at a later date. Lupe was born on September 5, 1935 in Gonzales, Texas to Guadalupe and Crecencia Moreno Valdez. Lupe proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, a 25 year mason and a shriner. He retired after 42 years with National Steel in Michigan. In retirement he ran a lawn repair business and income tax and bookkeeping business. He loved fishing, hunting and bowling. His parents precede him in death. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda Valdez; step-mother, Minnie Salinas; sister, Anna Maria Castellanos and husband Manuel; brothers, Thomas M. Valdez and wife, Ellen and Jose A. Valdez and wife, Ivette; eight nieces and nephews. VANDETTE BERNARD S VANDETTE BERNARD VANDETTE BERNIE VANDETTE Dec.9, 2008 age 65. Born on April 6, 1927. Bernie grew up in Houghton, Michigan before lying about his age and joining the navy during his sophomore year of high school. A. veteran of WW11 he served in the pacific as a gunner and remained active on the naval reserves at Grosse Ile Naval Air Station until 1969. Bernie received his undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan University and later a Masters of Arts degree in History from Eastern Michigan. He finished with a Master of Arts degree in Administration from the University of Michigan. He began his teaching career in Lincoln Park in 1958 and later moved to Taylor. Bernie retired from Taylor Public Schools after a long career as a history and social studies teacher at Kennedy and Taylor Center high schools, as Assistant Principal at Taylor Center and as Assistant Director of Vocational Education at the Taylor Vocational Center. Beloved Husband of the late Lorraine. Dear Father of Christine Schumacher, James (Nicolette), and Steve (Barbara). VICKORY, ROBERT ALAN VICKORY ROBERT VICTORY 62; of Lewiston, MI; passed away on December 14, 2008 at Grayling Mercy Hospital. He was born on May 15, 1946 to Robert and Gladys (Starner) Vickory in Pontiac, MI. He has lived in Lewiston for the past 8 yrs, formerly of Atlas, MI. He retired as a telephone line equipment technician after 30+ years, working for Michigan Bell, AT&T, Americtech, and SBC. He was an active member of the Lewiston Moose Lodge, he was past Governor, and currently was serving as chaplain and state board member. He was also a member of the Lewiston Funs Ones, and the Lewsiton Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed both golf and pool leagues. Above all else came his family. Robert is survived by his wife, Marcyann of Lewiston; sons, Michael of DeWitt, MI, Matthew (Kathleen) of Oxford, MI, and Jason of Burton, MI; daughters, Brenda (Timothy) Fox of Lake Orion, MI, Wendy (Theodore) VanSipe of Ortonville, MI, Marcianna (Frank) Pochyla of Springport, MI, and Catherine Moricz of Springport, MI; 20 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Tom (Vickie) of White Lake, MI, and Larry and Jay (Linda) both of Burton, MI; sisters, Patricia (Bruce) Williams of Burton, MI, Debra (Phil) Hankins of Grand Blanc, MI and Bonnie (Pete) Garza of Burton, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jessica and Elliot Fox, and a nephew, Danny Vickory.
