NELSON LORRAINE NELSON LORRAINE BURGER NELSON 86, of LaGrange, Indiana, died Monday, December 1, 2008 at her residence. Living in LaGrange since 1965, she moved there from Detroit, MI. Mrs. Nelson was the former co-owner and secretary of Nelson Chevrolet in LaGrange, IN. She was formerly on the LaGrange County Hospital Board. Mrs. Nelson was born on September 13, 1922 in Portage, Pennsylvania to Herman and Rachel (Evans) Burger. On August 8, 1943 in Little Rock, Arkansas, she married Frazier E. Nelson. Mr. Nelson preceded her in death on December 26, 1998. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, David and Beverly Nelson of Howe, IN; and two grandchildren, Tad Nelson and Tara Trueblood. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a son, Robert F. Nelson, on June 22, 2007; a grandson, Robert M. Nelson on December 12, 1989; and a brother, Robert E. Burger. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange, with Rev. Ken Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Dorothy was born and raised in Philadelphia, attended Germantown Friends School, graduated from Wheaton College in MA., and then began working as curator at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts. Dorothy was married to Sidney for nearly 64 years. Mrs. Newhouse was a kind and caring French teacher, retiring in 1981 after 18 years in the Grosse Pointe Public School system. He was a World War II Veteran and worked for the City of Detroit for many years at the Zoological Park. He is survived by his daughter Marilyn (Edward) Wheeler; grandchildren, Kathleen (John) Sandefur, Kevin (Chris) Wheeler, Robin Wheeler; and his sister-in-law Nancy Blankenship. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Katherine and his daughter Carol. NOLTA MARGARET NOLTA East Lansing. Age 81, passed away on November 29, 2008 in Lansing. Margaret was born in Detroit on May 22, 1927 to Emil and Mary (Hughes) Mayer, and was a long time member of Gesu Parish. Surviving are her children, John (Pamela) of Jenison, Marilu (Robert) De Grand of Gladstone and Thomas (Cheryl) of Munising; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel, Julie, Randall, Rachael, Nicholas, Charles, Megan, Amanda, Samantha, and Hannah; brother, Thomas (Nancy) Mayer of Grosse Point Park; sisters-in-law, Therese Mayer of Bloomfield Hills and Nancy Toal of Beverly Hills, MI; and long time companion, Frank Haynes of Haslett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, in 1985 and two brothers, Edward and John Mayer. Margaret was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for 37 years. She loved to travel with her companion, Frank, and spending time with her family and friends.
