International Academy in Bloomfield Hills, MI Ranks Sixth in U.S.
According to the Michigan Education Report, one Michigan high school - The International Academy in Bloomfield Hills - received a gold medal in the latest U.S. News and World Report. The International Academy ranked sixth in the country, according to the report entitled "America's Best High Schools"
Eight percent of Michigan schools received awards, ranking Michigan 23rd among the states. Five of the Michigan honorees are charter public schools. In metro Detroit, the honored schools included: Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Grosse Pointe South High School, Renaissance High School in Detroit, Adams High School in Rochester Hills and Troy High School.
Thirty Michigan high schools were also listed as top schools by Newsweek, which ranked the International Academy as 12th in the nation.
It is refreshing to hear of successful schools in Michigan after all the issues facing Detroit and Pontiac Public Schools. Congratulations to these schools!

Thirty Michigan high schools made Newsweek’s ranking of the best high schools in the country, according to the Michigan Education Report.
The news magazine ranked the top 1,300 high schools largely by measuring the number of students who take Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Cambridge tests. The highest ranked school in Michigan was the International Academy in Bloomfield Hills, which placed 12th, the Free Press reported.
Other Michigan high schools ranked in the top 1300 include: Grosse Pointe South High School, Bloomfield Andover High School; Troy High School; Berkley High School; Birmingham Groves High School; Farmington High School; Bloomfield Lahser High School;Birmingham Seaholm High School; Grosse Pointe North High School; Walled Lake Central High School; Farmington Hills Harrison High School; Troy Athens High School; Chippewa Valley Dakota High School; North Farmington High School; West Bloomfield High School; Novi High School; Northville High School; Walled Lake Northern High School; and Redford Thurston High School.

International Academy ranked again among nation’s best schools
The International Academy in Bloomfield Hills, routinely recognized for being among the top high schools in the nation, ranked 6th in the U.S. News Media Group list of the 100 best public high schools. The list was announced today and will be highlighted in the America’s Best High Schools issue of U.S. News and World Reports, on sale next week. More than 21,000 high schools were evaluated based primarily on college readiness and academic achievement.
The top 100 schools received gold distinction. Many more were recognized with silver, bronze and honorable mention distinctions.
In Michigan, 19 schools received the silver ranking. In metro Detroit, they included: Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Grosse Pointe South High School, Renaissance High School in Detroit, Adams High School in Rochester Hills and Troy High School.
Metro Detroit’s bronze designees include: Advanced Technology Academy in Dearborn, Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Communication and Media Arts High School in Detroit, Davis Aerospace High School in Detroit.
