CAPUTO NANCY T CAPUTO NANCY CAPUTO M.D. Age 85, Grosse Pointe Shores resident passed away on October 23, 2008. Nancy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 13, 1923. She was the oldest daughter of Ferdinando and Pia (DelFrate). Nancy graduated from St. Mary's High School and Carlow University in Pittsburgh. In 1948 she graduated from Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She completed her internship at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and her residency in Internal Medicine at Harper Hospital in Detroit. Nancy was board certified in Internal Medicine and on staff at Harper, Herman Kiefer and St. John Hospitals. She practiced medicine for 41 years, specializing in diabetes. She retired in 1989. Nancy is survived by two sisters, Norma DeRoma and Mary Sylvester, both of Pittsburgh; six nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass will be held at 12 noon Saturday, November 29 at St. Paul on the Lake, Grosse Pointe Farms. CASTILLO, CAROLE ANN CASTILLO; age 69; of Clarkston, Michigan; died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Clarkston Specialty Care in Clarkston surrounded by her loving family. Carole was born August 2, 1939 in Port Huron, Michigan the daughter of the late Jack and Helen Sharrard. Carole was raised in Port Huron and married the love of her life Paul Castillo in 1962, she and Paul would celebrate over 46 years of marriage. Mrs. Castillo and her husband would eventually move to Oakland County in 1965 where they would settle and raise their family. Carole retired from the Clarkston Community Schools where she worked at several schools as Kids Connection Program faculty member, caring for young children for over 20 years. Carole was loved by all her children she mentored and was further revered by their parents. When Carole was not working she was devoted to her family. Family members described Carole as the backbone of the family holding together both sides of the family. She was a great cook and gardener, ho enjoyed tending to her roses and also collecting Precious Moments collectibles. She was a member of the Clarkston Eagles and loved listening to Johnny Mathis music, bowling and always was available to go to one of the local casinos. Carole is survived by her loving husband of over 46 years, Paul Castillo; she is the loving mother of Kathy Castillo, Susan (David) Knapp, and Kristina (Christopher) Blum; also the beloved sister of Thomas Saunby; and cherished grandmother of Christopher, Bryce, Carolynne June CJ , Jacob, and Marissa. CHIO KENNETH C CHIO KENNETH CHIO Age 73, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away November 4, 2008.  He was born September 26, 1935 in Bono, Ohio to Raymond and Dorothy May (Leonard) Chio. He was united in marriage on February 2, 1957 to Bettajoyce Faneuff; they spent 46 loving years together until her death in 2004. Kenneth proudly served his country in the Air Force as a Captain. He worked as a pilot for General Motors Air Transport Section, which started at Willow Run Airport and then moved to Detroit Metro Airport. He truly enjoyed all aspects of aviation; such as being a pilot, teaching, creating manuals, and mentoring young aspiring pilots. Kenneth received a Safety Award from National Business Aircraft Association, which ranked him among the top five pilots in the world with the most hours flown without incident. As one of the founders of Colts Football in Northville, Kenneth was also a member of Yankee Air Force Museum and Cooley Canal Yacht Club. He also enjoyed boating, NASCAR, and traveling with his wife in their 5th Wheel RV. He is survived by his loving sons Kenneth Chio, David (Nancy) Chio, Christopher (Christine) Chio, Michael Chio, and Jon (Elizabeth) Chio; his brother Ted Chio; and his grandchildren Gyle, Olivia, Alex, Ryan, Logan, McKagen, Angela, and Justin. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one sister. Mr. Chrisman was an Engineer and Supervisor at General Motors Pontiac and Chevrolet Divisions and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a lifetime member of the Waterford Historical Society and was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Pontiac Waterford Elks Lodge #810, the Waterford Golden Age Club and the Waterford Senior Center. CLEMONS MINNIE CLEMONS Of Stockbridge. Age 101. Passed away at her home on November 22, 2008. She was born the daughter of Fred and Lillian (Wheeler) Williams on September 5, 1907, in Peck, MI. She married Walter Meister and after his death married Charles Clemons of Detroit. Minnie is survived by her son, David Meister. COLE GRETCHEN BORNOR COLE GRETCHEN COLE Born November 12, 1927 to loving parents Dora and Frank Bornor, passed on in peace on November 24, 2008 at age 81, with her daughters Cynthia and Sally by her side. She is also survived by Sally's husband Ron, grandchildren Erich, Nicole (Josh), Misha, Libby (Terry), and Emerson, and great-grandson Jayce. Gretchen's life is a testament to her loving, intelligent and independent spirit. She was born in Detroit and lived in several states during her childhood, as her father designed the nation's new highways. Her family later settled in Royal Oak, where she graduated from Royal Oak High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in 1949 in sciology and music from DePauw University in Indiana, where she created many lifelong friendships as a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Gretchen devoted countless volunteer hours as a Braille typist and with numerous other organizations while she was a wife and mother, and raised her two daughters with devotion, love and great fun. When she was in her 50s she earned a master's degree in social work from Wayne State University, and then worked as a medical social worker at St. Joseph's Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. In 1983 she became CEO of Detroit Air Compressor Company, which her parents had founded and run together for more than 40 years, and in the 1990s Gretchen received the Woman of the Year award from the National Association of Women Business Owners. Gretchen continually gave her love, thoughtfulness, keen intellect, grand humor and radiant smile to her family and many friends. She enjoyed traveling, and made everyone around her feel special. Gretchen marveled others with the power of her beautiful singing voice despite her 4'10" frame, reveled in the quiet of a glass of wine and a good book, and the beauty of Lake Michigan from her vacation home in northern Michigan. She leaves a lasting legacy of deep love for family, and a special style that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her forever. CRAIGHEAD RODKEY CRAIGHEAD ST RODNEY CRAIGHEAD SR 92 of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning with his son by his bedside. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 24, 1916, he graduated from Edgewood High School in 1934. He attended the University of Michigan from 1934-1936 before graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in 1942. Upon graduation, Rodkey was drafted into the U.S. Army in April of 1942, where he served in the European Theater from Normandy to Pilsen and was discharged as a Major in 1946. After serving his country, he was employed by the Detroit Bank and retired from the Detroit Bank & Trust Co. (now Comerica), as Chairman and CEO in August of 1981. Rodkey's first wife Carol Price Craighead, predeceased him in 1978. Rodkey is survived by his wife LaVerne Hastings Craighead; children, Rodkey (Joanne) Craighead, Jr. of Manchester, New Hampshire, Virginia (Michael) Craighead-Brooks of Golden, Colorado, and Corinne (Willam) Cost of Rockland, Maine; grandchildren Richard, Sarah, Susan, Andrew, Wesley, Hayley, Molly, Alexander, and Joseph. CREAMER ANDY CREAMER "It is better to serve than receive," was a guiding life principle and best advice from 79 year old Andy Creamer who died peacefully November 8, 2008 with family present in his Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina home. Now of the spirit with his wife of 55 years, Laura Murphy Creamer, who died in 2004, Andy is survived by his four sons and their wives, 13 grandchildren/step-grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren/ step-great-grandchildren. A graduate of the University of Virginia and Korean War Veteran, Andy was President of Bank of Lansing in 1971, moving to Detroit in 1973 as the Senior Executive for Northern State Bank Corp. In 1979 Andy moved to Pontiac, MI as President for Bank of Lansing, orchestrating the merger with the National Bank of Detroit, now JP Morgan Chase. He retired in 1992 volunteering in Oakland County, MI, as Chairman of the United Way, Chairman of the Board of Directors for St. Joseph Hospital, and President of the Pontiac Area Urban League. Andy was a Paul Harris Rotarian and faithful member of St. Daniels Catholic Church in Clarkston. In 1994 he and wife Laura moved to SC. Memorial service was November 11, 2008 in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
