BLANK MILDRED AGNES BLANK MILDRED BLANK  91, of Canton, formerly of Redford Township, passed to her Lord on November 19, 2008. She was the wife of the late Arthur F. for 63 years. Mildred was mother of Judy (Rod) Fitch, Dianne (Peter) Kain, Arthur R. (Randy) Blank, and Lori (Bernard) Girardot. She was the loving and laughing grandmother of Craig (Maiya) Fitch, Julie (Pat) Weckel, Mary Beth (Doug) Landerman, Patrick (Barb) Kain, Kathleen Kain, Cosette Girardot, and Michon Girardot, as well as nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Clayton (Marie) Montie, Gerri (Bob) Blair, Delphine Bess, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Arthur, Mildred was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Sylvia Blank, Dorothy Spinelle, Rita Holl, and Adeline Andreshak. Mildred's family is grateful for the loving care given by her niece, Joan Blair, and Iby Szabo for the past two years. Following graduation as a Registered Nurse from St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit, Mildred worked in hospitals, private practice, and the automotive industry. Following their professional retirements, Mildred and Arthur opened Milart Ceramics, Inc. studio in Redford Township, which grew from Mildred's hobby into a prosperous family business. In 1997, 22 years later, they retired to a senior residence in Canton to be closer to Judy and Lori. Mildred and Arthur were able to travel extensively and the memories they made were cherished. Mildred continued her travel experiences with cruises and travel to Alaska and the Caribbean with family. She was always an avid Detroit sports fan. Mildred was a loving and caring lady who will be missed by her family and friends. A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas a'Becket, Canton, November 22, 2008. Interment will be private.

BURNIE JOHN F BURNIE JOHN BURNIE Age 88 of Tampa, Florida, passed away November 9, 2008, after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne M., his children, Ellen Burnie, Jane Zeld, James Burnie and his wife Veronica, Martha Angelosante and Meg Burnie, his brother, James W. (Bill) Burnie and his wife Betty, step children, Chip Keener and Sarah Keener, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and 3 neices, along with many close friends. John was born in Canada and moved to Detroit at an early age. A promising hockey career was cut short by WWII. As a Marine, he served his country with honor and distinction, earning medals for his bravery. After the war he graduated from the University of Michigan, and married Kathleen Coesens. He was employed by Citizens Mortgage Corp, NBD Mortgage Co., and Riggs Bank. Services will be on Friday, November 21st at 11am in the chapel at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, Michigan. Loving father to Alexis (Sean), Melissa (Matt), Adam, and "father" to Mei (Jiang) and Tony (Tina). "Grandfather" to Jessica and Elliott. Also survived by sister, JoAnne (Jack) and predeceased by younger brother, Rodney. After serving in the Army's ASA in Turkey and Germany, he began work at Chrysler as an industrial engineer. Between 1972 and 1988 he was also owner, operator and teacher at "the Golden Heddle" weaving shop in Royal Oak and Founder of the Michigan Retailers Yarn Association. He retired from Chrysler after 31 years and traveled to countries in Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe. He had a deep interest in community and volunteered with ROADC, Democratic Headquarters in R.O., city council, AARP's Income tax for seniors program, and helped foreign students in their adjustment to university life in the U.S. He will truly be missed, not only by his loving family, but by those whose lives he touched.
