Mildred's family is grateful for the loving care given by her niece, Joan Blair, and Iby Szabo for the past two years. Following graduation as a Registered Nurse from St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit, Mildred worked in hospitals, private practice, and the automotive industry. Following their professional retirements, Mildred and Arthur opened Milart Ceramics, Inc. studio in Redford Township, which grew from Mildred's hobby into a prosperous family business. In 1997, 22 years later, they retired to a senior residence in Canton to be closer to Judy and Lori. Mildred and Arthur were able to travel extensively and the memories they made were cherished. Mildred continued her travel experiences with cruises and travel to Alaska and the Caribbean with family. She was always an avid Detroit sports fan. Mildred was a loving and caring lady who will be missed by her family and friends. John was born in Canada and moved to Detroit at an early age. A promising hockey career was cut short by WWII. As a Marine, he served his country with honor and distinction, earning medals for his bravery. After the war he graduated from the University of Michigan, and married Kathleen Coesens. Between 1972 and 1988 he was also owner, operator and teacher at "the Golden Heddle" weaving shop in Royal Oak and Founder of the Michigan Retailers Yarn Association. He retired from Chrysler after 31 years and traveled to countries in Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe. He had a deep interest in community and volunteered with ROADC, Democratic Headquarters in R.O., city council, AARP's Income tax for seniors program, and helped foreign students in their adjustment to university life in the U.S. He will truly be missed, not only by his loving family, but by those whose lives he touched.
