NORTHCROSS DAVID C NORTHCROSS MD DAVID NORTHCROSS MD January 12, 2009. Dr. Northcross was born to the union of Drs. David and Daisy Northcross, in Montgomery, AL January 29, 1917. David became a dedicated physician and operated Mercy General Hospital, the first black owned hospital established in Detroit, established by his parents in 1917. It was first located at 668 Winder, then it moved because of the freeway, I-75, relocating to 2929 W Boston on the west side of Detroit, where it became the first black hospital built from the ground up. The funeral will be January 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Plymouth United Church of Christ, 600 E. Warren, two blocks west of I-75.
