Supported Greek Orthodox Church education and many charitable organizations while having a lifelong desire to help young people through her profession as an elementary school teacher. Freida received the Delta Kappa Beta International Honorary Society's Woman of the Year Award in 1980 for excellence in education, presented in Zurich, Switzerland. In addition to her achievements in education and active involvement in church she also enjoyed many activities and sports such as tennis, hot air ballooning, and playing classical piano music. Oldest daughter of seven children of the late Andrew and Agitha (nee Mucha) Paliszewski. Loving wife of 61 years of late Joseph Rosiak, married at Saint Peter and Paul in Detroit, Michigan. Loving mother to Richard (Tania) Rosiak, and the late Frederick, Patricia Yesta, Gloria Murphy, and Timothy. Loving mother-in-law to Marie (Vicky) Rosiak (Gatt) and Thomas Yesta. Sister to the late Edward Paliszewski, Walter Paliszewski and Virginia Tilly Karas. Siblings still living, Joseph Paliszewski, Mildred Ainsworth and Jenny Samara. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Dear grandmother of Ann, Jonathan, Joy, Sarah, Suzanne, Noel, Thomas and Caroline. Great-grandmother of Brooke, Brady, Cory, Kai, Connor, Zachary, Sawyer, Taylor and Chase. Graduate of Cosmetology from Mayfair in 1935, and established one of the first minority businesses in Detroit, "Stella's Beauty Shop," Central near Livernois, later to service at home in Dearborn. Stella enjoyed her trips to the Casinos and playing cards. Member of Sacred Heart Dearborn. She loved all her family and she will be greatly missed by all. ROSS HAZEL JUANITA ROSS HAZEL ROSS January 8, 2009. Mrs. Hazel J. Ross; age80; of Casco Township; passed away Thursday evening in Mount Clemens Regional Center Hospital. She was born on November 21, 1928 in Columbus, Kansas, a daughter of the late James Albert and Willie May (Swepston) Tadlock. Hazel was united in marriage with Charles A. Ross on September 11, 1949 in Pontiac, Michigan. Mr. Ross passed away on March 1, 2000. Hazel had lived in Pontiac and moved to her present address in May 1998. Hazel enjoyed being a homemaker, playing the piano and singing. She worked as a volunteer at church and taught Sunday School. Mrs. Ross is survived by six children, Charles (Mary) Ross of Indiana, Clair (Jane) Ross of Harrison Twp., Juanita (Mark) Brabeau of Casco Township, Harry (Yvonne) Ross of Pontiac, Larry (Tina) Ross of Waterford and Roger (Michelle) Ross of Casco Township; also surviving are 3 sisters, Opal Kerwood, Frieda Markelwitz and Patricia Cotton all of Kansas; 21 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and a nephew James (Bonnie) Ross of Harrison Township. Hazel was predeceased by 3 siblings, Lee Tadlock, Charles Tadlock and Addie VanHorn. MaryAnn was born February 18, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Clarence and Ruth (Burke) Gough and was a 1959 graduate of East Detroit High School. She married Arthur C. Rossi on September 1, 1961 in Detroit, MI. MaryAnn was an accomplished artist and received her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the University of Toledo and went on to earn her Masters degree in Fine Arts from Bowling Green State University. She was a former member of the Athena Society and currently has works on display at Divine Design in Perrysburg. MaryAnn was the founding member and Queen Mother of the Perrysburg Chapter of the Red Hat Society. MaryAnn is survived by her husband, Arthur Rossi; sons, Scott Rossi of Seattle, WA and Brian (Jamie) Rossi of Toledo; two grandchildren, Alec and Mitchell Rossi; mother, Ruth Gough of Toledo; and sister, Dolores (Ralph) Linley of Coldwater, MI; along with several dear nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law. She lived at Fox Run Retirement Community, Novi, Michigan, since 2007. A long-time resident of the Birmingham area, she was born in St Albans, W.V . She is survived by her beloved husband Richard Royal and daughters Martha (John) Cooper and Nancy (Dave) Crouch, and grandchildren Liam and Kieran Cooper and Alexander, Catherine, and Jack Crouch. Dreama was active in the music community in greater Detroit, as an adjunct professor of voice at Macomb Community College, as a private voice teacher, as a soloist at All Saints Epsicopal Church in Pontiac and as choir director at University Presbyterian Church in Rochester Hills. In their retirement Dreama and her husband, Dick, created textile art, especially for liturgical settings. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 14 at 3:30 p.m. at Fox Run Retirement Community, Belmont building. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

RUCINSKI EDWARD RUCINSKI Age 91, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Jean, with whom he was married for 58 years. He is also preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Francis Rucinski and brother, John. Ed was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 19, 1917. Ed served during World War II from 1941 to 1945 as a Sergeant in the United States Army Infantry stationed in the Aleutian Islands. For his service in the Army he received a Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with one Bronze star, and four overseas bars. After his service was over, he went back home to Detroit, Michigan where he began his career as a carpenter. He worked on building homes and apartments and later in his career helped to build Big Boy restaurants in Michigan. He never said no to a neighbor who needed help with their carpentry projects. Edward was a member of Carpenters Local 118/687 in Michigan for 59 years and a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6896 in Detroit, Michigan. Ed also had a dance band in which he played the accordion. He loved to pull out the accordion and play for people. Ed was an accomplished builder who built his own home in Allen Park, Michigan where he and his wife, Genieve Cibulski Rucinski, lived after they were married on November 22, 1947. Together they raised a daughter, Roslin J. Walker. Ed is survived by his daughter, Roz and son-in-law, Rick, one granddaughter, Victoria Smith, and her husband, Jason, along with many nieces and nephews. There will be family-only viewing. Mass will be held Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Brigid in Alpharetta. A private burial will be held in Savannah, Georgia on Saturday, January 10, 2009.
