MACDONALD ABBY HOWD MACDONALD ABBY MACDONALD On January 30, peacefully, surrounded by her family after a long illness bravely born. Abby grew up in New Jersey, and after attending Wheelock College in Boston, MA, married and followed her husband Malcolm Stewart Macdonald to Michigan while continuing to summer in New Hampshire. She was a former vestry member at Christ Church Cranbrook and a supporter of numerous local organizations. In addition to her husband, she leaves two daughters, Alison Baird Macdonald (Rob) and Eleanor Dawes Macdonald (Alex), a grandson Stewart, and her brother Anthony. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 3 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Cranbrook. A New Hampshire memorial service is planned for the summer. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made in her memory to the Village Women's Club Foundation.

 

MacDONALD DOROTHY OLOFSON MacDONALD DOROTHY MacDONALD 80, a long time resident of Palmer Ranch Healthcare Center in Sarasota, FL died February 10, 2009 after a 10 year battle with an Alzheimer's impairment. Dorothy was born September 27, 1928 in Littleton, NH. Dorothy came to Venice in 1996 from Michigan. She was a Registered Nurse with the Allen Park Nursing Home in Allen Park, MI after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Plantation Golf and Country Club. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Edward Olofson and wife Christy of Mesa, AZ and Eric Olofson of Dearborn, MI, daughter, Kristin Kochan and husband Christopher of Allen Park, MI; sister, Blanche Kowalczyk of East Tauton, MA; grandchildren, Thomas, Kyle, and Jonathon Kochan all of Allen Park, MI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009 at 10:00 at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. MACDONALD MALCOLM A MACDONALD MALCOLM MACDONALD Age 80 of Hickory Ridge Drive, Ellijay, GA, died Monday February 9, 2009. Mr. MacDonald was born January 18, 1929 in Dearborn, MI the son of the late Angus and Esther Helen Warner MacDonald. He was a retired technical Engineer working for many years with WJR Radio in Detroit, MI., a member of the Cherry Log Christian Church and was veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Marines. His interest included "Ham Radio" and he was a member of the Ellijay Ham Radio Club. His sons John and Craig MacDonald preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Amy MacDonald; two grandchildren, Chloe` MacDonald and Kathy Marlow both of MI; two great-grandchildren, Patricia Sue and John Allen; daughter-in-law, Carrie MacDonald, Dearborn, MI; step-daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Randall Davis, Canton, GA; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. MARTEN CECILIA MARTEN Age 91 of Alpena, formally of New Baltimore, died Friday, January 30, 2009 at Tender Care Nursing Home in Alpena. Mrs. Marten was a resident of New Baltimore since 1970 and also a parishioner of St. Mary Queen of Creation Catholic Church. She is survived by her son David (Kathi) of Grand Lake, and daughter Mary (Robert) Jarnac of Cheboygan; grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of eight. Mrs. Marten was preceded in death by her husband Harry; son, Gary; two sisters, and one brother. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Baltimore, MI. McGLINNEN NORMAN EARL McGLINNEN NORMAN McGLINNEN Died January 23, 2009 in Ann Arbor. He was born November 9, 1927 in Redford to Lester Paul and Mae Friel. Following service in the U.S. Army and graduation from Michigan State, he was employed by Millington Truck Body, where he worked for 29 years. In 1956, he married Carolyn Jones of Detroit. They made their home in Fenton where they raised five children; Laura, the late Norman Douglas (d. 1960), Lesley Loffredo (John), Lindsay Cluett and Norman Jr. (Heather). They also had three grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Cluett, and Caroline Laura Elizabeth McGlinnen, who were the joy of his life. He was also survived by his brother Gerald and many nieces and nephews. In addition, he loved to read, garden, eat, watch sports and play golf and was known as "Arnie" to his golfing friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kenneth, Lester, Fred and Dale; and sister, Beverly. MCNALLY, BERTRAM RICHARD (RICK) III; age 54; of Ortonville; passed away February 25, 2009 at his home, after courageously battling with illness for the last four years. Rick was born in Grass Lake, MI in 1954. Rick is the beloved husband of Sue (Robertson) McNally; and the devoted and proud father of Quin and Tait McNally. Rick enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and excelled at the game of golf. But most of all Rick cherished the moments watching his sons play sports from the little boys to the young men they are today. Rick attended Albion College receiving a Bachelors in Education and then went on to earn his Masters in Education from MSU. He spent the last 23 years teaching in the Lake Orion school system. Rick is survived by his wife of 24 years, Sue; and their two sons, Quin P. McNally and Tait C. He had been a winter resident of Fort Myers Beach since his retirement in 1995. Melvin was a United States veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps. MOSER MARSHALL FINLEY MOSER MARSHALL MOSER of DeLand, Florida, died February 3, 2009. He was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. His parents were the Rev. and Mrs. C.M. Moser of Pine Plains, NY. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie Shull Moser; his son Gregory Moser and his sister Jean Moser Kallgren of West Bloomfield, Michigan. His son Marshall F. Moser Jr., and his brother Robert W. Moser, predeceased him. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. and M.A. in Counseling and Education Administration. He served in the Air Corps. from 1943-45. He worked 25 years in the Grosse Pointe School System as a teacher, counselor and administrator. He once taught for Wayne State University to set up a guidance program at a U.S. Air Base in Turkey. He was active in the Rotary Club. A Memorial Service was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Deland.

 

MOSHER JANE UNDERHILL MOSHER JANE MOSHER Born December 1, 1922 in Buffalo, NY, died peacefully at home on January 25, 2009. Beloved wife of W. Edwin Mosher, Jr. for 67 years. Dear mother of W.E. Mosher III, Robert Lawrence Mosher (Denise Sica) and the late Richard Underhill Mosher. Grandmother of W.E. Mosher IV, Mary Elizabeth Cinnamon, Melissa Anne Smith, Andrew Mosher, Jamie Mosher, Ashley Naegele, Sophia Sica Mosher, Elena Sica Mosher and six great-grandchildren. Sister of Arthur William Underhill. Mrs. Mosher was the director of community relations for Meadow-brook Music Festival and Meadowbrook Theater, and a member of the Village Women's Club. MURPHY JACK A MURPHY JACK MURPHY February 5, 2009, age 91 of Dearborn. Dearest husband of Eleanor for 65 years. Loving father of Judith (William) Greba, John (Nicole), Michael (Margo), Mary (Jeff) Hoover and the late Robert. He is survived by ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Brother of Ted Murphy and Patricia Herman. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was retired from Ford Motor Company Public Relations Department after 41 years, including service in the International Division. Jack also served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a avid golfer and enjoyed summers in his hometown of East Tawas playing his favorite game-golf .
