Dear father of William (Pamala) Valken, Mary (Dennis) Mitchell, Kristen, (Mark) Kosciolek, Michael Kulusic, Ann-Marie (Dennis) Brantley, and the late Richard Valken. Father-in-law of Sandra Valken. Loving grandfather of Kaylan, Christopher, Melissa, Jordan, Jillian, Matthew, Michelle, Michael, Alexander, Samantha, McKenna, and Jessica. Brother of Sylvia Srebernak. An electrician by trade, Jerry served two years in the US Army as a tank commander stationed at Fort Knox. When he returned from the Army, he worked for American Standard Plumbing in Detroit. He was hired by Detroit Manufacturing & Supply and Ann Arbor Pipe & Supply in 1963. In 1984, Jerry opened his own plumbing wholesale business, Madison Heights Plumbing & Heating Supply where he worked with his family, serving as CEO until his death. VIGLIOTTI RALPH VIGLIOTTI JR Passed away on March 10, 2009. Born in Detroit, June 18, 1914. Ralph was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anne, after 57 years of marriage. He is survived by his children; Beth Bradbury, R. Thomas (Maureen), Mary McHale (the late Christopher), Anne Cesario (Mark), grandchildren, Kevin, Mary Grace, Ellen, and Tom, and his devoted caregiver, Jessie R. Perry. After graduation from Eastern High School, Ralph attended University of Detroit and Michigan State University. An ardent athlete, he was a member of the U.S. Olympic rowing team in 1940, however, World War II forced the cancellation of the games. He continued rowing at the Detroit Boat Club well into his 80's. He was drafted into the Army in 1941 and saw active duty in the Pacific and European theaters during World War II. Ralph participated in five major battles, including the Battle of the Bulge; and was awarded the Bronze Star with OLC, two Purple Hearts, and Croix de Guerre with Silver Star for his participation in the liberation of France. He rose to the rank of Captain during his years of service. Ralph began his real estate career with his father, Ralph, Sr. in 1939 selling residential properties on Detroit's east side. After his World War II service he continued in residential sales until 1949 when he formed his own company specializing in commercial - industrial real estate. He served as president of Detroit Board of Realtors (1967), as Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals of Detroit, President of the Michigan Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, and Chairman of the Detroit - Wayne County Joint Building Authority. He was a member of the The American Legion - Cadillac Post, the 86th Chemical Mortar Battalion Association - D Company; and long time member of the Detroit Boat Club. A happy hour will be held at the Grosse Pointe Hunt Club, 655 Cook Road, Grosse Pointe, on Friday, March 13, 2009, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. VOLLICK RONALD STEVEN VOLLICK RONALD VOLLICK Age 68 of Madison Heights, passed away while asleep at his home on March 15, 2009. He is survived by his loving partner of 22 years, Kathleen Favella of Lexington, Kentucky; his children Tanya Vollick, Holly (Rus) Buschmann, Stephanie Vollick, Cherylee Parker, and Cody Vollick; and his fantastic grandchildren Veronica and Madalyn Parker, Jessica and Jason Stipes, Brandon and Steven Buschmann, and Matthew Salvo; and his brother David Vollick. There is no man with more character, values, morals, unconditional love, wisdom and devotion than Ronald Vollick. He was a tender, concerned, and hard working man, who retired from the Detroit News where he was a heating engineer, and who always had a joke to make you smile; who gave the deepest, the greatest and most passionate hugs, and who was always there if you needed him. We are sorry that he had to leave us so soon. He will be eternally loved, cherished, and respected for the man he was and will always be to us. As his final wish, his ashes will be thrown into the Cumberland River in Kentucky. Arrangements were through the Hopcroft Funeral Home, Madison Heights.
