SALVATI JAMES SALVATI age 65 and a resident of Dearborn Heights, passed away on March 8, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Carmen Salvati. Mr. Salvati owned and operated Collision Repair Shops in Garden City, Detroit, South Lyon and Ann Arbor for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, barbecuing, parties and spending time at his cottage on Houghton Lake.Big Jim , and his larger than life personality, will always be remembered as the life of the party and a great dad and grandpa. (Terpenning) Smith. He married Lena K. Welch January 18, 1941 in Pontiac. She died February 16, 2009. Layton served in the U.S. Army during World War II in France and Germany. He received a battlefield commission to Second Lieutenant. Layton was awarded a Silver Star and Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union for over 50 years. He built and sold many houses throughout the years. Layton was a member of North Goodland Baptist Church in Imlay City and longtime member of First Baptist Church in Pontiac.
