Mrs. Rade was a homemaker and member of the Armuchee Baptist Church in Rome. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Ann Braun of Royal Oak; grandchildren, Bonnie Braun of AZ and Kenneth Braun of Royal Oak; siblings, Pauline (George) Green of Dearborn, Mildred (Hoyt) Formby of GA and Ed (Olga) Selman of GA. REESE KENNETH M REESE KENNETH REESE Age 85, passed away on March 3, 2009 in Denver, Colorado. A long standing member of the University Club of the City of Washington, D.C., he will be missed by family and friends. A University of Michigan College of Engineering graduate, he retired as the Managing Editor for the Chemical and Engineering News in 1967 and served as a Contributing Editor and author of the weekly Newscripts column until September 2004. Ken served in the Navy as a naval aviator and patrol plane commander during WWII and as a reservist thereafter. He is survived by three nieces, Sherry, Judy and Andi and a nephew, Mike. RIGONI ANN RIGONI Of West Bloomfield, Michigan passed away of natural causes on Friday, February 27, 2009. She was born Anni Lilja (Havana) Koski in Hailuoto Finland on April 17, 1911. At the age of 7 years, Ann immigrated to the United States arriving at Ellis Island, New York on Christmas day, 1918. The family settled in Ironwood, Michigan and Ann spent her early years attending school and working on the family farm. She was employed in the Anesthesia department at the Grand View Hospital and in later years at the Deaconess Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She was married to Victor Rigoni for many happy years first living in Ironwood and then in Detroit, Michigan. They enjoyed traveling by car and visiting interesting sites across the United States. Family celebrations were always apart of their lives. They entertained and always welcomed family and friends at their home. Following Victor's death, Ann moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She enjoyed the new community and spent many years enjoying a lifestyle of socializing, volunteering, and participating in local events. Ann's final years where spent at Sunrise Senior Living in West Bloomfield, Michigan where she made many new friends and thrived under the care of the caring, attentive staff. Ann is remembered by all who knew her for her caring spirit, thoughtfulness, and sense of fun. She enjoyed sharing meals with friends and family and was ready for a lunch or dinner date at a moment's notice. Her graciousness and warm smile made those occasions memorable for all. She was loved by her entire family. Every niece and nephew was the recipient of a hand knit sweater and Christmas was celebrated with great varieties of cookies from her kitchen. Ann was preceded in death by husband, Wilbert Johnson of Bessemer, Michigan who passed away during their first year of marriage; husband, Victor Rigoni; parents, Sophia and John Koski; brothers, John Koski, William Koski, Arvo Koski and Sister Lempi Salo. She leaves behind sister in law Olga Koski of Ironwood, Michigan and three generations of nieces and nephews. RYDER RAYMOND D RYDER RAYMOND RYDER Age 82, of Royal Oak died March 8, 2009. He was born July 30, 1926 in Detroit to Walter and Karen Ryder. Mr. Ryder operated the stamp and coin section at the Models Hobby Shop in Ferndale from 1960 until 1985 when he opened Ryder Hobbies in Royal Oak, which he operated with his son until 2004. He also served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Surviving are his son, Jeffrey D. (Kathy Fisher) Ryder of Royal Oak and many friends. He was predeceased by his former wife, Barbara J. Ryder, in 2002. With permission from his bishop, Father was allowed to retire in the Detroit area. He assisted at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Parish, Sterling Heights, as Senior Priest since 2001. Father Val is survived by his brother, Father Jerome A. Rykowski and his sister, Betty Irany; nieces, Kathy, Margaret, Valerie Rykowski; nephews David Irany; and his spiritual family.
