Despite severe physical challenges, Ms. Jacob lived a life full of activity. Growing up in Detroit during the Great Depression, Ray Jeanguenat developed the resolve and determination which served him so well in facing and conquering life's many challenges. A gifted student-athlete, he attended St. Joseph's High School, where he graduated as salutatorian in 1942. One of his greatest thrills during that time was playing in a sandlot baseball championship at Tiger Stadium. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Pacific campaign, seeing combat at Okinawa, Pelileu and Green Island. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Shortly after returning home, he enrolled at Lawrence Institute of Technology, attending evening classes for six years. In 1952, he became the first member of his family to graduate from college, earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. During that same time, he established B & R Plumbing and Heating with his brother Bud. They successfully installed plumbing and heating systems for commercial and residential construction for thirty years, before retiring to a life of family activities, golf and walleye fishing. He particularly enjoyed time spent with his four grandchildren, watching their growth and development and taking great pride in their many achievements. He was also an active member of Lochmoor golf club and scored three holes-in-one during his membership (which, as his many golfing friends know, he also took great pride in). Ray passed on to eternal life peacefully, at his home, after a short illness. He is survived by his daughter Daryl (Ron) Dawes; son Bob (Mary) and his grandchildren John (Elizabeth) Jeanguenat; Julia Jeanguenat; Anna Jeanguenat; and Andrew Jeanguenat. Those who knew and loved him will remember his kindness, friendly smile, sense of humor and generous spirit. His legacy will live on for years to come. She was born November 5, 1926 in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Dr. Robert G Jones and Ruth (Pinkard) Jones. Mrs. Johnson was a lifelong advocate of health and education, and recently retired after 13 years as a member of the Board of Directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. She was a founding trustee of Oakland Community College, having served on the OCC board from the college's inception in 1964 until 1980, including four years as vice chair and two years as board chair. She was a staunch advocate for the establishment of OCC campuses in the southeast quadrant of Oakland County. That dream was realized with the establishment of the college's Royal Oak and Southfield Campuses in the mid-1970s. In recognition of her efforts the Royal Oak Campus' Lila R. Jones Johnson Theater was named in her honor in 1982. Mrs. Johnson was among the first woman to graduate from the University of Illinois College of Business and had also completed postgraduate work at Wayne State University. She was once public relations director for an international health care trade organization. As a resident of Huntington Woods from 1955 to 1982, she was a founding member of the Berkley Council for Better Schools. She was a longtime member of the Ezra Parker chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. He moved back to Michigan five years ago. He enjoyed music, sports and working in the garden, he also loved the water. Jim was good with his hands and could fix anything. Jim loved to tell jokes and was a "people person" type of man. Jim was a good and generous Christian Man who loved his children and his grandchildren and often spoke lovingly of his sweet granddaughter Dani.
