GARDNER WILLIAM KENT GARDNER WILLIAM GARDNER 58, passed away February 25, 2009 in Clearwater, Florida of natural causes. Kent was born in Akron, Ohio on March 3, 1950 and was a resident of West Bloomfield, MI. He is survived by his loving companion Kira Solivo; dear mother Violet; brother Scott (wife Debbie and nieces Heather and Melissa); sister Juli Timney (husband Robert); son Bill (wife Sylvia and grandchildren Elizabeth and Victoria), daughter Ginger Timney (husband Mark); as well as his ex-wife and friend Susan Klein. He was predeceased by father William G. Gardner. Kent was a loving father, son, brother, companion and friend, who excelled at everything he did. Growing up in Royal Oak, MI, Kent graduated from Kimball High School, continued on to Michigan Technological University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon; he then received his MBA in finance from Wayne State University. Kent was the President and Founder/Owner of Matrix System Automotive Finishes, LLC, an automotive paint manufacturing company in Walled Lake for over 20 years. Kent was a long time member of The Detroit Yacht Club, Variety Children's Charity, and Edgewood Country Club. Kent enjoyed boating, traveling, fishing, skiing, and spending cherished time with family and friends. GILCHRIST RODERICK A GILCHRIST RODERICK GILCHRIST 58, January 26, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer. He brought love and joy to his beloved parents Margaret, the late Angus. His devoted cousin Margaret Bernarding and Christopher Bommarito. Friends from all walks of life. Rod graduated from E.M.U. with a degree in Fine Arts, and also from Van Der Meer Tennis University. He received his M.F.A and business at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y. He began his work in the arts at Shapolsky Gallery. He taught at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Hofstra University Long Island and the New College San Francisco, CA. He moved to CA in 1994 and helped establish the Portola Family Connections infrastructure after devoting several years to ensuring the success of family connections. Rod was the director of the Cartoon Art Museum. His involvement with the Museum spurred a subsidy program for small non-profit arts organizations in S.F. His innovative art programs for children and youth both at the museum and at community based organizations showed his steadfast commitment to sharing his love of learning through art in whatever form it takes. His commitment to the San Francisco Art community will be felt by many generations to come. Rod's intelligence, compassion, humor, integrity and caring will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a talented tennis, golf, musician, voracious reader. A world traveler. He loved family, good friends, good food and fine wines. GNICH ANNE LOVE GNICH ANNE GNICH 89, of Grand Rapids, died on February 11, 2009. She was born on April 11, 1919 in Lenoir City, Tennessee. Anne graduated from Fordson High School. She married Warren F. Gnich in 1938 in Detroit and then moved to Allen Park, Michigan in 1954. They were married for 55 years until his passing in 1994. Anne was a fervent volunteer for both her community and the Allen Park Presbyterian Church. She was appointed by the Mayor to the Festivities Committee for the Allen Park Street Fair. She co-chaired this committee for 14 years. She served on the board of directors for the Allen Park Symphony, and was an active member and chair person for the Overture Society. Survivors include her sons Frederick Gnich of Arcadia, Michigan and David Gnich of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren Jason Gnich of Portland, Oregon and Hilary Gnich of Seattle, Washington; and a sister Jewel Smith of Grayling, MI. Donations in her name can be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.

He was 79 years old. Bill was a member of the American Legion and Rotary Club, St. Mary's Church and the HVEA. He loved sports and travel and Notre Dame football. But most of all he loved his family.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bev, and by their sons and daughters, Kathy (Hal) Steurer of Milford, Bill (Cynthia) Golden of Fenton, Theresa (Frank) Rebidas of Fenton, Kevin (Kimberly) Golden of Milford, Patrick (Tammy) Golden of Texas and Mike (Melanie) Golden of Sturgis. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Jack was the son of Charlotte and Robert B. Gotfredson. He attended Holy Cross College in Massachusetts, served as a Navy Ensign during World War II, and received a business degree from the University of Michigan. He briefly pursued a vocation as a Catholic priest before turning to a career with the family business, Transamerican Freight Lines and later, Transamerican Properties. Jack had a deep appreciation for classical music and opera with a wonderful talent for playing the piano. His selfless devotion to family knew no boundaries. His granddaughters affectionately called him "Papa Jack" and loved being with him. He will be remembered as a well-dressed gentleman and, above all, for his kindness and charity. He is survived in San Diego by his wife, Joyce; his loving children, Paul, David and Therese; his granddaughters, Amber, Samantha, Kate, and Claire; brother, Robert; sister, Mary (Sister Cecilia) of Our Lady of Angels Convent in Mishawaka, Indiana; six nephews and two nieces. He was a WWII Navy veteran, an accomplished trumpet musician, an enthusiastic pilot/instructor, a lifetime contributing member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and an involved member of Franklin Community Church and their choir. He worked for General Motors for 37 years and was instrumental in the development of airbag technology and other safety innovations. Upon retirement he founded a successful engineering consulting firm where he continued his lifetime focus on automobile safety. He was married in 1950 to Eleanor (Clay) Griswold of Buffalo NY until her unfortunate death in 2005. GUTOWSKI FRANCIS GUTOWSKI FRANK GUTOWSKI Age 90, died February 24, 2009 in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from U of D High School in Detroit, and Loyola University of Chicago. Frank was a teaching professor at John Carrol University of Ohio. He was the youngest of six brothers and sisters. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be at a later date.
